CRM data incident update

A statement on the Beacon CRM data security incident

Our statement and information for supporters

On Monday 3rd August, The Lighthouse was informed of a data security incident affecting Beacon, the third-party system we use to manage information about our supporters, donors and volunteers.

We understand this may be concerning, and we are sorry that this has happened. Protecting your personal information is extremely important to us.

We don't yet have a full picture of the extent of the incident, but we are working closely with Beacon to establish the facts as quickly as possible. We will update this page and be contacting anyone directly affected as soon as we have more information.

This system does not contain payment card details or bank account information, nor does it hold case records or details of individuals supported by the Lighthouse or the Foodbank.

What we are doing

Since being notified, we have:

  • Reviewed the information that may have been affected

  • Assessed the potential risk to those involved

  • Reported the incident to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)

  • Continued to work with Beacon as their investigation progresses

What you should do

We are not currently aware of any misuse of personal information. As a precaution, we recommend that you:

  • Stay alert to unexpected emails, calls or texts claiming to be from The Lighthouse

  • Avoid clicking links or opening attachments in unsolicited messages

  • Never share passwords, bank details or security codes in response to an unexpected request
